Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has submitted a proposal to enhance its combat readiness through the acquisition of advanced military equipment, including wheeled armored vehicles, M777 artillery, and Himars missiles. The plan also includes the establishment of an Unmanned Aerial Warfare Center to address evolving security threats.
According to Thai News Agency, the proposal was announced by Rear Admiral Surasan Kongsiri, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, and Major General Winthai Suwaree, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army. The Army has emphasized the need to modernize its systems and improve intelligence cooperation with international partners. This includes restructuring units related to aviation and enhancing regulations and procedures.
Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, was briefed on the Army's role and the challenges it faces during his visit to the Royal Thai Army Headquarters. The briefing highlighted the need for improvements in various areas, including equipment, intelligence, and systems.
The Army's proposal also includes a request for a budget amendment to enhance its capabilities and develop its structure and personnel. The Minister of Defence instructed the Army to prioritize military operations on the front lines, while also addressing challenges in information warfare. He called for a centralized source of information to prevent the public from being misled by social media, emphasizing the importance of proactive communication and citing official sources.
