Bangkok: The final deadline for reviewing eligibility for the state welfare card is the end of this month. The Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration has instructed all 878 districts to expedite the process for citizens, emphasizing that those who do not meet the criteria must request a review of their eligibility by August 31st.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Narucha Khosasilvilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, has directed district-level coordination centers, or One Stop Service (OSS), across the nation to amplify public awareness efforts and streamline the process for citizens in the concluding phase of the 2026 State Welfare Registration Project. This initiative focuses on verifying identity for those who meet the eligibility criteria and facilitating requests for reconsideration for those who do not, aiming to enhance access to welfare benefits and minimize travel expenses.
The Director-General emphasized that OSS centers should act as central service agencies, coordinating with relevant bodies to simplify public access to government services, particularly for those facing access challenges. Local administrators, village heads, and community leaders have been urged to intensify fieldwork to raise awareness and closely monitor target groups. The latest figures indicate a significant backlog, prompting urgent actions before the deadline.
As of August 20, 2026, processing data reveals that among eligible individuals, 8,812,679 have successfully verified their identity, while 693,852 have not. Additionally, 4,564,683 people have requested a review of their eligibility, but 4,744,570 have yet to submit a request. Citizens in these groups are urged to complete the necessary procedures by the specified deadline to safeguard their rights.
Qualified applicants must verify their identity via e-KYC. Existing holders of the government welfare card are exempt from re-verification, while new cardholders can verify their identity through various banking channels from July 17, 2026, to January 12, 2027. Successful verification allows benefit usage starting October 1, 2026. Those not meeting eligibility criteria must confirm their "Request for Eligibility Review" by August 31, 2026, via designated digital platforms or banks, and submit the application with supporting documents by September 20, 2026. Automatic reviews apply to specific criteria, such as vehicle age and low-value securities.
The results of the eligibility review will be announced on September 30, 2026. The Director-General has also instructed officials to facilitate the verification process for vulnerable groups, including the elderly and disabled, and to coordinate with police to address potential misuse of personal information. Inspectors have been tasked with monitoring the project's implementation to ensure timely and effective public benefit.
