Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army organized a flag-saluting ceremony to commemorate Thai National Flag Day. At 8:00 a.m., in front of the Royal Thai Army Museum, Royal Thai Army Headquarters, General Pana Klaewplodthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, along with commanders and personnel from units under the Royal Thai Army Headquarters, participated in a flag-raising ceremony and singing of the Thai national anthem on the occasion of Thai National Flag Day, which falls on September 28 each year.
According to Thai News Agency, today's ceremony included a recitation of the history of the Thai flag, the playing of the national anthem by the Royal Thai Army Band, a joint salute to the national flag, and the singing of the Thai national anthem. The event was led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army to express loyalty to the nation, religion, and the King, and to commemorate the great kindness of His Majesty King Rama VI, who bestowed the Tricolor Flag as the national flag in 1917.
The Cabinet resolved to designate September 28 of each year as "Thai National Flag Day" since 2017 to commemorate this graciousness. The Tricolor Flag consists of three colors: red for the nation, white for religion, and blue for the monarchy, which are considered important symbols of Thai identity.
