Royal Irrigation Department Mobilizes to Combat Flooding

Bangkok:The Royal Irrigation Department is intensifying efforts to manage floodwaters in affected areas by deploying additional water pumps and operating them around the clock.

According to Thai News Agency, the Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department, Witthaya, has ordered a full-scale mobilization of resources to assist with flood relief. This includes the installation of water pumps and propulsion systems, removal of water hyacinths, and other obstructions to improve water drainage in high-risk areas across Bangkok and its surrounding provinces.

The department is working through its Mechanical Engineering Division and various regional irrigation offices to provide necessary equipment and support. Locations involved in these efforts include Wat Khian in Nonthaburi Province, Ban Suan Saensuk in Nakhon Nayok Province, and multiple sites in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, among others.

Additionally, the department is delivering essential supplies such as drinking water and relief items to affected residents. This initiative aligns with the concerns highlighted by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Suriya Jungrungruangkit.
