Bangkok: The Office of the Ombudsman held a ceremony to receive the royal command appointing Police General Sarayut Sangwanphokhai as Ombudsman. During the ceremony, Ms. Khomkwan Kanchanakunchorn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ombudsman Office and Acting Secretary-General of the Ombudsman Office, presented the Royal Command and placed it in front of the portrait of His Majesty the King. Mr. Sirin Chawpetchdee, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ombudsman Office, read the announcement of the Royal Command appointing him. Police General Sarayut Sangwanphokhai, Ombudsman, then opened a flower tray to pay homage and pay respects before the portrait of His Majesty the King.
According to Thai News Agency, Police General Sarayut Sanguanphokhai was born on December 23, 1964, and is currently 61 years old. He holds a bachelor's degree in Public Administration from the Royal Police Cadet Academy, Class 41, a master's degree in Business Administration from Kentucky State University, United States, and a doctorate degree in Public Administration from the University of Northern Philippines, Philippines. His extensive training includes an Advanced Police Administration Course, the Senior Justice Administration Course, an Advanced Certificate Course in Politics and Governance in a Democratic Regime for Senior Executives, and studies at the National Defense College and the Rule of Law for Democracy.
Police General Sarayut's career began as a deputy investigator at Don Mueang Metropolitan Police Station. He advanced through various roles, including superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, deputy commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Chiang Mai Provincial Police Commander, Narcotics Suppression Bureau Commander, and Provincial Police Region 4 Commander. He retired as assistant national police chief and was appointed to the position of Ombudsman on October 9th.
In his role as Ombudsman, Police General Sarayut emphasized the principles guiding his work, stating, "To uphold justice and be a source of refuge for the people for the benefit of society."
