Pai: A rice noodle factory explosion in the Pai District of Mae Hong Son Province has resulted in one fatality and two injuries. Authorities are currently on the scene conducting an investigation into the cause of the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the explosion occurred on December 6, 2025, at around 10:30 a.m. when officers from the Pai Police Station received a report of a pressure cooker explosion at a rice noodle factory located behind Wat Na Chalong. The blast claimed the life of Ms. Kingkaew Chanduean, the 52-year-old factory owner, and injured two others: Mr. Jamnong Thamson, the owner's older brother, and Mr. Worawit Kitham, her husband. Emergency services quickly transported the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The explosion happened at house number 289, village 6, in the Mae Na Teng sub-district. Upon arrival, authorities found the factory in disarray due to the force of the explosion from a high-pressure boiler. Mr. Wisut Phanwa, a witness at the scene, reported that four people were working on making khanom jeen when the electrically operated pressure cooker exploded. Investigators have been tasked with expediting their findings to superiors and coordinating with the forensic team to determine the cause of the explosion.
