Rayong:The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), in partnership with the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Office (EECPO) and the Thai Exhibition Association (TEA), has announced the successful implementation of the "Empower Eastern Exhibition" (EEE) project, aimed at enhancing the region's economic growth through the MICE industry.
According to Thai News Agency, the EEE project is a strategic initiative designed to revitalize Thailand's exhibition industry by leveraging trade shows as a primary tool for income distribution and regional development. The project has attracted high-potential trade shows like Automation Expo 2026 and The Print Cycle Tech 2026, which are expected to generate significant revenue and stimulate local businesses to meet international standards.
A significant milestone for the EEE project was Rayong province's certification as a MICE City on September 15, 2026. This certification underscores the collaboration between government, private sectors, and local authorities in transforming Rayong from an industrial hub into a comprehensive business destination. This transformation is expected to integrate local entrepreneurs and communities into the MICE industry supply chain.
Dr. Choljit Worawangso Weerakul of the EECPO emphasized the importance of MICE and trade shows in connecting businesses and investors with the region, showcasing its potential in logistics, infrastructure, and industrial zones. The EECPO aims to create a conducive environment for investment, propelling the area into a multifaceted business destination.
Dr. Supalak Suwatthi of the Thai Exhibition Association highlighted that the EEE project helps event organizers extend their reach beyond Bangkok, facilitating knowledge transfer and international standards to the local supply chain. This initiative is expected to enhance the skills of the local workforce and build confidence among event organizers, both domestically and internationally.
The EEE project's success serves as a model for other regions, demonstrating the "MICE as an Engine" approach to accelerate urban development and sustainable economic growth. It highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in developing local human resources, formulating supportive policies, and enhancing infrastructure to drive genuine economic advancement.
