Bangkok: Leaders of the political protest group are set to organize a major rally tomorrow at Victory Monument, prompting police to advise unrelated individuals to avoid the area.
According to Thai News Agency, the protest leaders, including Mr. Jatuporn Prompan, Professor Panathep Puapongphan, and Mr. Phichit Chaiyamongkol, held a press conference to outline preparations for the event. Mr. Phichit stated that the stage and equipment setup is underway, and coordination is ongoing with police, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration officers, and nurses. Participants from other provinces have started arriving, with more expected tonight. The rally will commence at 10:00 a.m. and conclude by 9:00 p.m., with attendees encouraged to use public transport due to parking limitations.
Professor Panathep mentioned that donations from the event could exceed 20 million baht after expenses, earmarked for the Second Army Area. Coordination with the Second Army Area is in progress to determine its needs for territorial protection. Additional donations post-event will not be used for the rally but to support the Second Army Area. Details on the allocation of funds will be provided during the event.
The rally demands the Prime Minister's resignation and the dissolution of parliament, highlighting the refusal of coalition parties to withdraw, except for the Bhumjaithai Party. The protest emphasizes protecting sovereignty and preventing the loss of territory.
Mr. Jatuporn raised concerns about a past betrayal affecting national security, referencing Thaksin Shinawatra's alleged money laundering involving 27 billion baht in Cambodia. He urged transparency from Samdech Hun Sen and raised issues about a foreign money laundering expert linked to influential figures in Thailand.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau has announced alternative routes to avoid the Victory Monument area on 28 June, requesting cooperation from road users to steer clear of Phahon Yothin Road inbound and other specified routes to minimize congestion and ensure public safety.
