Bangkok: Narcotics Suppression Police have expanded their investigation, resulting in the arrest of more gangs involved in the illicit drug trade connected to the notorious 'Dr. Air'.
According to Thai News Agency, the Narcotics Suppression Bureau intensified their probe following the apprehension of 'Dr. Air' and his group of seven individuals. They were initially caught smuggling controlled drugs, specifically psychotropic substances classified under category 2 (Alprazolam, Flunitrazepam) and category 4 (Clonazepam), which are commonly used as sleeping pills, anxiety medications, and hypnotics.
In recent developments, officers sought arrest warrants from the Criminal Court for five additional suspects. These individuals are accused of colluding to commit serious drug offenses. The subsequent arrests led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of psychotropic substances, including 17,000 Alprazolam tablets, 40,180 Zolpidem tartrate tablets, and 7,500 Rohypnol tablets, amounting to a total of 79,780 tablets. Authorities also confiscated assets related to the offenses, valued at over 522 million baht.
Despite their arrest, the suspects have denied the charges during interrogation. The Narcotics Suppression Bureau remains committed to continuing their investigation and gathering further evidence related to the crimes.
