Bangkok: Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya presided over the Royal Fabric Pattern Contest "Siriwachiraphon Fabric Pattern" and the National Handicrafts Final Round for the year 2024 at Suralai Hall, IconSiam Shopping Mall in Bangkok. The event brought together various dignitaries, including Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and other officials from the Ministry of Interior, along with contestants and members of the public. According to Thai News Agency, the event was an opportunity for the public to engage in preserving Thai fabrics through creative design. The competition saw 8,651 applicants, with 72 fabric pieces and 6 handicrafts making it to the national finals. The event highlighted the commitment of Her Royal Highness to integrating contemporary fashion perspectives with traditional Thai identity, exemplified by her design of the 'Siriwachiraphon Fabric' pattern. Mr. Anutin expressed gratitude on behalf of the Thai people and civil s ervants for Princess Sirivannavari's efforts to conserve and develop Thai arts and culture. He emphasized the importance of continuing her royal initiative to preserve Thai handicrafts sustainably. Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Minister of Interior, detailed the significance of the 'Siriwachiraphorn Pattern Fabric,' a royal pattern granted by Princess Sirivannavari on February 22, 2024, intended to be used by Thai weavers and artists nationwide. The pattern was created for the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary. The contest awarded several categories, with the Best of The Best award going to Maj. Gen. Chaiyuth Wachiraworaphakdi for his royal court brocade pattern. Other winners included Ms. Parichat Kaewnak for her special award-winning product, and Mr. Adun Mullachat for his technical fabric design. The competition showcased a wide range of categories, from traditional silk techniques to innovative fabric designs, emphasizing the diverse talent and creativity within Thai fabric and handicraft communities. The event underscored the importance of preserving Thai cultural heritage while fostering innovation and creativity in fabric design.
