Oslo: The Prime Minister has been appointed by His Majesty the King to represent him at the funeral ceremony of the King of Norway. According to Thai News Agency, His Majesty the King appointed Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, who serves as both Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to attend the royal funeral of Norway's King Harald V. Mr. Charnvirakul is expected to arrive in Norway this evening, September 7, 2026.
The royal funeral is scheduled to take place at Oslo Cathedral on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM local time. Due to this significant assignment, the Prime Minister will not be present for the second and third readings of the 2027 Budget Act in Parliament. Ms. Traisuli Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Prime Minister, mentioned that this has necessitated the Prime Minister's absence from the budget discussions.
Despite his absence, the Prime Minister remains focused on the 2027 budget draft. He has delegated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapas, along with the Cabinet, to ensure comprehensive communication of the budget's key issues to Parliament. The Prime Minister is closely monitoring the budget's progress to ensure its successful passage.
