Kuala Lumpur: The Prime Minister and her entourage have traveled to Malaysia to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit, with the goal of promoting an ASEAN characterized by inclusive participation and sustainability across all dimensions for the region's 670 million people.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Government Spokesperson, announced that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, along with her delegation comprising Mr. Pichai Naripthaphan, Minister of Commerce, Mr. Marist Sengiampong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Umesnas Pandey, Thai Trade Representative, Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Board, and Mr. Prommin Lertsuridej, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, arrived in Kuala Lumpur to take part in the summit and related meetings. They received a warm welcome from HE Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office of Malaysia, and Dato' Rozainor bin Ramli, Director-General of Protocol, Prime Minister's Office of Malaysia.
The summit's first day will commence tomorrow morning, with the Prime Minister attending the 46th ASEAN Summit (Plenary) and the 46th ASEAN Summit Informal (Retreat), followed by a luncheon for the leaders of the 10 ASEAN countries. In the afternoon, discussions will take place between ASEAN leaders and representatives from the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), ASEAN Youth, and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC).
The Prime Minister is also set to attend the signing ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, and later join a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and his wife, as informed by Mr. Jirayu.
The summit is themed 'Inclusivity and Sustainability'. The leaders will endorse the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, aiming to guide the ASEAN Community over the next 20 years, while also addressing challenges such as the situation in Myanmar, the South China Sea, Middle East tensions, and US tax policy. Thailand's priorities include enhancing regional integration to counter global economic volatility, promoting connectivity across all dimensions, initiating cooperation on ASEAN tourism, and exploring the concept of Digital Trade Logistics to link regional intelligent transportation systems. The Prime Minister plans to use this platform to strengthen cooperation in tackling transnational crimes, particularly drugs and online scams, which impact the quality of life in Thailand and ASEAN. ASEAN members include Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Brunei, as stated by Mr. Jirayu.
