Bangkok: The Prime Minister delivered a speech on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024, emphasizing the government's commitment to "equality of opportunity" for individuals with disabilities. She reiterated that all policies are crafted with the aim of ensuring that people with disabilities can access basic welfare rights equally and live with freedom and dignity. According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra expressed her support and good wishes to individuals with disabilities and their families. She highlighted the United Nations' designation of December 3 as the 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities', meant to bring about change in legal, social, and economic dimensions. The goal is to raise awareness about the rights and dignity of people with disabilities and enhance their quality of life. The Prime Minister articulated that the belief in 'equality of opportunity' guides the government's policy-making process. She assured that th ese policies are designed with people with disabilities and their families in mind, allowing them to access their deserved rights, economic opportunities, resources, justice, and public services.
