Chusak Signs Agreement to Temporarily Enshrine Buddha’s Tooth Relic in Thailand.

Beijing: "Chusak," Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, has officially signed an invitation to host the Buddha's tooth relic from Lingguang Temple in China, facilitating its temporary enshrinement at the Royal Plaza in Thailand from December 4, 2024, to February 14, 2025. The event coincides with the Thai National Day celebrations in Beijing. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, along with officials from various Thai governmental bodies including the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Thai Air Force, and the National Office of Buddhism, visited China from December 2 to 4, 2024. Their mission was to represent the Thai government in the agreement to temporarily enshrine the revered Glass Tooth Relic at Sanam Luang Ceremonial Ground. This significant event was attended by the Thai Sangha, led by Phra Phrombandit, Abbot of Wat Prayurawong. During the Thai National Day and Father's Day celebrations on December 2, Mr. Chusak delivered a sp eech at the China World Hotel in Beijing. He highlighted the importance of the Thai monarchy and the benevolent legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, while also celebrating the enduring relationship between Thailand and China. The event saw attendance from ambassadors of various countries, organizational leaders, and representatives from the private sector. On December 3, Mr. Chusak, as the president of the laity, and Phra Phrombandit, president of the monks, joined Mr. Chen Rui Feng, Minister of the National Office of Religious Affairs of China, and Venerable Yan Que, abbot of Guangji Temple and president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, in signing the agreement to invite the Glass Tooth Relic. Representatives from both Thai and Chinese laity and monks witnessed this momentous occasion. The official ceremony to invite the sacred tooth is scheduled for December 4, 2024. Mr. Chusak will lead a Thai delegation comprising both laypeople and monks to Lingguang Temple to perform the ceremo nial invitation. The sacred tooth will then be transported to Beijing International Airport for an official ceremony before boarding a China Airlines flight to Thailand. Both Thai and Chinese delegations will accompany the relic, which is expected to arrive at Don Mueang Airport by 1:00 p.m. Later that afternoon, around 5:00 p.m., the Thai Prime Minister will preside over the ceremony to enshrine the sacred tooth at the pavilion at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground.
