Bangkok: The Prime Minister has taken decisive steps in response to the flooding crisis in Songkhla Province by establishing the Songkhla Flood Control Center. Phradon has been appointed as the Director of this new center, with Thammanat serving as the Director.
According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Gazette website has disseminated Prime Ministerial Order No. 12/2025, which details the formation of a special agency tasked with executing duties under the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations. This follows the declaration of a state of emergency in the Songkhla Province area on November 25, 2025. The order has led to the establishment of the Flood Emergency Response Operations Center (FRO).
Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, is the individual primarily responsible for this center, serving as its director. The Forward Flood Emergency Operations Center (FOC) will have the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (C-in-C) as the director and the leading figure responsible for the area. Notably, the list of committee members does not feature Captain Thammanat Prompao, Minister of Agriculture, nor the three center spokespeople, which include the spokesperson to the Prime Minister's Office, Lieutenant General Wanchana Sawasdee, and Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek.
The Center has been endowed with significant duties and powers to swiftly address emergency situations. Its responsibilities include monitoring, assessing, and analyzing the situation, and compiling data on victims to ensure fair and comprehensive assistance. The center is also authorized to summon government agencies and private sector entities to participate in meetings, provide clarifications, offer information, or perform other actions deemed necessary. This order is effective from November 25, 2025.
