Bangkok: The secretary-general of the Prachachat Party announced his readiness to join hands with Pheu Thai to form a government. Mr. Sukarno Mata, MP for Yala and Secretary-General of the Prachachat Party, emphasized the importance of quickly convening coalition leaders to prevent a governance vacuum and address public issues effectively.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sukarno's statement followed the Constitutional Court's decision to dismiss Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra from her position as Prime Minister, along with the entire Cabinet. Despite this, the Prachachat Party remains committed to supporting the Pheu Thai Party in its efforts to form a government and present a prime ministerial candidate to the House of Representatives. Mr. Sukarno urged the Pheu Thai Party to engage coalition leaders promptly to ensure continued public service and problem-solving.
In response to concerns about potential confidence issues if the Pheu Thai Party forms a government, Mr. Sukarno expressed confidence in its success. He noted that previous governments had minimal support, and in the current climate, increased scrutiny requires MPs to assume more responsibility. He stressed the necessity of implementing policies that benefit the populace.
"Regarding government formation, the Prachachat Party is ready to join forces with the Pheu Thai Party to move forward. Since the time of Prime Minister Chatchai Thavisin (or Paethongtarn), the party has been ready to join hands and move forward. Regarding confidence, we haven't seen the new cabinet yet. Drawing a picture ahead of time is not possible," Mr. Sukarno stated.
