Samut prakan: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) raided two warehouses in Samut Prakan containing counterfeit Thai cosmetics, seizing over 50,000 items worth more than 6 million baht. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), led by Pol. Lt. Col. Peeradon Kongthap, Head of Division 4, Consumer Protection Police Division, along with officers from Division 4, raided a warehouse and distribution center for counterfeit cosmetic products in Samut Prakan Province. They seized 117 items, totaling 52,495 pieces, with a value exceeding 6,000,000 baht. This stemmed from complaints received by Division 4 from the public regarding the sale of counterfeit Thai and foreign brand cosmetic products at unusually low prices through online platforms.
According to Thai News Agency, police investigations led to searches at two locations: a warehouse in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province on September 9, 2026, where Mr. Thanatchai, 27, led the search. 92 cosmetic products, totaling 11,511 items, were seized, with an estimated value of 2,000,000 baht. A second search was conducted at a warehouse in Mueang Samut Prakan District on September 14, 2026, where Ms. Jaruwan, 34, led the search. 25 cosmetic products, totaling 40,984 items, were seized, with an estimated value of 4,000,000 baht. In total, the searches at both locations resulted in the seizure of 117 items, totaling 52,495 pieces, with a total value exceeding 6,000,000 baht. The seized cosmetic products included popular Thai brands.
Further investigation revealed that both warehouses shared the same modus operandi. The goods were imported from overseas, stored in the warehouses, and frequently moved to different locations and changed shipping addresses to evade police detection and facilitate distribution. The products were advertised online, with orders received from overseas. These orders were then sent to warehouse managers in Thailand, who packed and shipped the goods to customers according to the orders.
Such actions constitute an offense under the Cosmetics Act B.E. 2558 (2015) for "selling counterfeit cosmetics," punishable by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months and a fine not exceeding 30,000 baht, or both.
