Pattani: Police arrested a delivery driver and his motorcycle with a sidecar carrying nearly 200,000 cigarettes. His supervisor met with police and confirmed that his subordinate had no involvement with the contents of the package. Central Investigation Bureau police arrested Mr. Muhammad, 39, on a rural highway in Pitumudi Subdistrict, Yarang District, Pattani Province. Seized from the vehicle were a motorcycle with a sidecar and several brands of foreign cigarettes, packed in parcels totaling nearly 200,000 cigarettes. These cigarettes were not manufactured in the Kingdom, had no clear source, and no documentation was provided regarding their importation into the Kingdom.
According to Thai News Agency, during questioning, she confessed to being a daily employee of a shipping company who had picked up goods from a pickup point in Yarang District to deliver to the company's warehouse. Later, Ms. Faziyah, Mr. Muhammad's boss, met with police and confirmed that her subordinate had no knowledge of the contents of the parcel, as she was only the driver. She added that those likely involved could be officials at the pickup point or customers who owned all the parcels. She said she would gather information and submit it to the police for further legal action.
