Bangkok: Police General Chakthip Chaijinda, President of the Athletics Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, presided over the Songkran Festival traditional ceremony for the year 2026. The ceremony included the tradition of pouring water to seek blessings from elders for good fortune on the occasion of the Thai New Year. Coaches and athletes participated in the ceremony, offering their best wishes.
According to Thai News Agency, the Executive Committee and personnel of the Athletics Association participated in the ceremony to preserve and continue Thailand's traditions and customs. Key figures included Pol. Maj. Gen. Surapong Ariyamongkol, Senior Vice President and Secretary-General, Pol. Maj. Gen. Naphanwut Liamsanguan, Vice President, Air Vice Marshal Anekphol Mongkoldech, Committee Member, Mr. Witawat Tantivej, Senior Vice President, Mr. Peera Chanthar, Director and Registrar, and Mr. Anurak Sengiangjit, Director and Treasurer.
The participation of these individuals in the ceremony was aimed at fostering love, unity, and good fortune among the members of the association while upholding the cultural heritage of Thailand.
