Archayon Kraithong, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, disclosed the coordination efforts with rally organizers and media to ensure safe reporting and monitor parallel rallies happening nationwide. Citizens are advised to avoid the surrounding routes to minimize traffic disruptions.
According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Police, led by national police chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, convened a meeting with the Royal Thai Police Operations Center to review reports from related agencies, including the Metropolitan Police, Special Branch Police, and provincial police. The Metropolitan Police Bureau has been designated as the primary unit responsible for maintaining peace and order during the rally. Organizers have been in compliance with the procedures, and the public has been informed to avoid routes around Victory Monument to alleviate traffic congestion.
The spokesman emphasized discussions with protesters to ensure that rights and freedoms are exercised within legal boundaries. Cooperation from protesters is sought to avoid bringing illegal items or intoxicants to the protest area. The police urge both the public and officers to monitor the situation and report any behavior that may cause unrest.
In the provinces, parallel gatherings are expected in about 10 locations, with some officially announced. Local police will ensure peace and order even in areas where events have not been pre-announced. There is an indication that people from the provinces may travel to Bangkok for the gathering, although exact numbers remain unspecified. Contingency plans are in place to maintain order.
Ahead of the rally, guidelines for news reporting were established in collaboration with the rally organizers, the Thai Journalists Association, and the media to prevent misunderstandings or chaos. While the assembly is recognized as a legal right, the police reiterate that there are no road closures or traffic bans currently in effect. Organizers have stated that the event will be a one-day assembly without overnight stays, advising the public to plan their travel accordingly to reduce traffic impacts.
