PM2.5 Dust Levels in Bangkok Exceed Standards in All Districts.

Bangkok: PM2.5 dust levels in Bangkok have surpassed the standard limits across all districts, as reported by GISTDA this morning. The alarming situation sees 49 districts categorized at the red level, indicating severe health impacts, and just one district at the orange level. The average PM2.5 concentration across the city has been recorded at 60 micrograms per cubic meter, prompting authorities to caution residents against engaging in outdoor activities. According to Thai News Agency, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Public Organization), or GISTDA, utilized satellite data through the "Check Dust" application to monitor the PM2.5 dust situation at 7:00 a.m. on November 13, 2024. The findings revealed that all districts in Bangkok have exceeded safe dust levels, with 49 districts reaching the health impact level (red). Out of these, 31 districts have recorded dust levels higher than 90 micrograms per cubic meter. Samphanthawong, Bang Rak, and Bangkok Noi are the top three distri cts with the highest dust values. Nong Chok District is the only area classified under the orange zone. The citywide average PM2.5 concentration stands at 60 micrograms per cubic meter, which is significantly above the acceptable limit. Residents are advised to wear masks consistently while outdoors to protect themselves from potential health risks, particularly respiratory diseases. The public is encouraged to stay informed about the PM2.5 levels by utilizing the "Check Dust" application, which is available for download on both iOS and Android platforms.
