Phumtham Evades Question on Potential Interior Minister Role

Bangkok: Phumtham Vejjayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, has refused to confirm whether he is in line to become the Interior Minister, leaving the decision to Prime Minister's discretion. He stated that the situation remains uncertain as there has been no royal approval or official notification regarding his appointment.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham addressed the uncertainty surrounding his potential appointment as Minister of Interior by emphasizing the lack of any formal royal decree or announcement. He mentioned that the list of ministerial qualifications has not yet been submitted, and he deferred questions regarding his candidacy to the Prime Minister.

When probed further about his preparedness for the role of Interior Minister, Mr. Phumtham remarked that there is no point in speculating until a royal command is issued, indicating that any preparations would only begin following official confirmation.
