Phuket: The Phuket Land Protection Group is planning a march tomorrow, expressing disappointment that the province ignored their objections to holding the Jewish New Year celebration. The group has been vocal in their concerns about the safety implications of the event, which includes a purification ritual scheduled for tomorrow in Shabad, Patong.
According to Thai News Agency, the Phuket Land Protection Group issued a statement criticizing the Phuket Provincial Administration for disregarding public safety concerns. The group is particularly frustrated with the administration's decision to approve the organizers' proposal to scale down the event from 1,000 to 800 participants and consolidate it into a single location, Shabad, thereby canceling the hotel event. This decision, as per the group's statement, appears to be a continued provocation for the residents of Shabad.
The march is expected to see the participation of hundreds, predominantly vocational students. The procession will commence from the Dolphin Roundabout, pause for an hour at Hyde Park opposite Chabad, and then continue to Patong Stadium, with events starting at 4:00 PM onwards.
