Bangkok: The Phuket governor has ordered an investigation into allegations of bribery at a Thalang checkpoint, instructing a report within three days. He also ordered an investigation into a group claiming to be reserve auxiliary police officers who allegedly demanded money from businesses.
According to Thai News Agency, Phuket Governor Chotinrin Kerdsum stated that after learning about the allegations from social media, he immediately directed the Thalang District Chief to form a fact-finding committee and instructed them to report on the progress. The Thalang District Chief has already submitted a preliminary report to the province. The governor emphasized the importance of setting up checkpoints in the area and instructed the district to report on their operations daily.
The deputy district chief in question is responsible for prevention work and is involved in setting up checkpoints. During the investigation, the governor has instructed the Thalang District Chief to adjust the duties and responsibilities of all officers mentioned in the complaint to ensure a comprehensive investigation. The committee is expected to conclude its findings within three days, as this is a matter of public interest.
