Bangkok: The Pheu Thai party has instructed its members to move forward into election mode, emphasizing caution regarding legal aspects and accelerating the selection of candidates for all constituencies by December 15th. Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, convened a party meeting following the royal decree dissolving parliament. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Wisut Chainarun, deputy leader of the party, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, deputy leader, and Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong, party secretary-general.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasert encouraged all members to prepare for the election process and have confidence in the party's capabilities. He explained that the party has been preparing for a possible dissolution of parliament, anticipating it could occur on December 12th. Consequently, the Pheu Thai Party has taken proactive measures to prepare for upcoming elections.
The party outlined specific directives including the removal of all candidate announcement signs that exceed legal size limits. This directive applies to all candidates, including new ones. The party also urged members to reduce any activities that violate election laws, noting that actions addressing border situations are no longer permitted since the royal decree takes effect on December 12th.
Furthermore, the party has nearly completed the process of appointing provincial representatives across all 77 provinces, with only a few provinces still in need of representatives. These provinces have been urged to expedite the process to ensure all candidates for both constituency and party-list seats are in place by December 21st, with a preferred completion date of December 15th to accommodate necessary procedures.
Members have also been instructed to prepare a list of representatives for each candidate to report any election fraud. Additionally, election application documents, including tax documents for the past three years, must be prepared in advance of the unspecified application period.
