Bangkok: Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Dr. Raveewan Phuridej, delivered a policy address to heads of affiliated agencies, emphasizing the importance of advancing the Ministry, prioritizing national interests, upholding democratic principles, and guiding work according to His Majesty the King's royal teachings. She also presented a New Year's gift for the public for 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Raveewan Phuridej chaired a policy meeting for executives of agencies under the MNRE at the meeting room on the 17th floor of the MNRE building. She emphasized that the MNRE's work must align with the government's policies, particularly the application of technology in operations for transparency, speed, and accountability. She stressed the importance of leading the MNRE forward, prioritizing the national and public interest based on principles of integrity and fairness. The meeting focused on integrating the work of all agencies under the MNRE as a single entity to truly benefit the people. Finally, she urged the executives to adopt the royal initiatives of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) on "Inheriting, Preserving, and Developing," as well as the working principles and royal pronouncements of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), as key principles in their operations.
Dr. Raveewan Phuridej informed the heads of agencies under the Ministry about key policies of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, such as the "People Living with Forests" policy, the drafting and improvement of environmental laws for greater effectiveness, and the resolution of forest fires, haze, and PM2.5 pollution. Fifteen agency heads, comprising 10 departmental and ministerial-level agencies, 3 state enterprises, and 2 public organizations, presented summaries of their key achievements. Dr. Raveewan emphasized the urgent need to address key issues such as PM2.5 pollution, forest fires, and haze; integrated cooperation on climate change mitigation towards Net Zero Emissions; the submission of nominations for Thailand's World Heritage Sites; and the promotion of important legislation such as the Clean Air Act, the Climate Change Act, and the Biodiversity Act.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) is offering these New Year gifts to the public for 2026: improved national park management through an e-ticket system for transparency and security; zero food waste management; addressing the human-forest conflict; maximizing the utilization of confiscated and valuable timber; extracting lessons learned to develop a water-related early warning system; upgrading groundwater management for consumption and agricultural use; surveying and mapping rare earth minerals; driving the national mineral development master plan; and developing market systems to support and accommodate community products, creating added value from research-based products, and promoting natural tourist attractions developed by various MNRE agencies to a wider audience.
