Hat yai: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has paid a visit to Hat Yai Municipality to oversee the ongoing recovery efforts and to uplift the spirits of the Village Defense Volunteers and Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department officials. These teams are working tirelessly in shifts to swiftly restore normalcy to the city.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, visited several key locations in the Hat Yai Subdistrict, including Wat Chue Chang, Kim Yong Market, Supasarnrangsan Road (Zone 2), and Thesabanphatthana Road (Zone 3). The visit took place on December 4th and included Mr. Atthaya Nuan-Uthai, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Pol. Lt. Col. Khetrat Chansin, Deputy Governor of Samut Sakhon Province, among other officials.
Mr. Sampantharat engaged directly with members of the Territorial Defense Volunteer Corps and officials from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. Their duties involve recovery work, waste collection, and operating disaster relief machinery in the affected areas. He also took the time to meet with residents to understand their concerns and gather feedback.
The effort is part of a broader initiative led by the Ministry of Interior, under the direction of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, General Anutin Charnvirakul. As Commander-in-Chief of the Territorial Defense Volunteer Corps, General Charnvirakul has ordered the deployment of 4,012 volunteer corps members from across the nation. Their mission is to quickly clean and restore Hat Yai Municipality, thus reinstating its status as a center for trade and investment and enhancing the well-being of its citizens.
