Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has disclosed that the outcome of the investigation into cheating in the local government exam will be unveiled soon. According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister has mandated stringent security protocols for the safeguarding of the exam results. It has been affirmed that individuals found guilty of cheating will face both criminal and disciplinary proceedings. Additionally, those failing to report by July 1st will forfeit their rights.
Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, announced advancements in the probe into alleged corruption associated with the local government civil service examination. He indicated that further information has surfaced and is prepared to present it to Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of Interior, immediately following the upcoming 7-day deadline. He underscored the importance of transparency and clarity to maintain public confidence in the Ministry's operations, assuring that the inquiry is being conducted diligently.
In addressing the fact-finding process, Mr. Arsit explained that each complaint is being scrutinized individually. For instance, if a candidate claims to have passed but their name is missing from the official list, a comparison will be made with the actual records. Complaints involving bribery or coercion will be investigated thoroughly, but those not qualifying will not pass. Each issue will be addressed comprehensively.
Regarding any directives from the Prime Minister, who recently visited the Department of Local Administration to assess security measures for the document storage, Mr. Arsit stated that the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the matter. He instructed the Volunteer Defense Corps to secure key locations related to the case, personally overseeing the meticulous implementation of the security protocols.
Civil servants required to report for duty by July 1st were warned by Mr. Arsit that failure to do so would result in the forfeiture of their rights. He reiterated that both criminal and disciplinary actions are being coordinated with the police and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).
Concerning the investigation into the involvement of 10 civil servants, the Permanent Secretary expressed that while anxiety is understandable, the truth will emerge once the investigation concludes in 7 days. He assured there will be no negligence, and those accountable will face repercussions. He concluded by urging public confidence in the Ministry of Interior's efforts.
