Bangkok: "Madam Pang" Nualphan Lamsam, President of the Football Association of Thailand, has cast her vote in the Bangkok gubernatorial election, expressing her hopes for the development of more sports facilities in the city. She voted at polling station 7, Government Savings Bank 2, located at the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 39, amidst a lively atmosphere filled with eligible Bangkok voters and media.
According to Thai News Agency, Madam Pang encouraged residents to participate in the election before the polls closed at 5:00 PM. She emphasized the importance of voting, stating, "Today I came to exercise my right to vote as a Bangkok resident. I would like to encourage everyone who is eligible to come out and vote, because Bangkok, besides being the capital of Thailand, is also one of the world's important cities. Therefore, if we come out and vote to elect a good governor, we will have a better city and a better quality of life."
Madam Pang, who is often humorously advised against running for governor due to her current role, expressed her desire to see improvements in public health and safety. She said, "Many people often joke that I shouldn't run for governor. It's because I'm currently the president of the Football Association of Thailand, and what I'd like to see is more space for exercise and sports. For me, people's health is very important. I also want to see the governor prioritize safety, both in terms of accidents and natural disasters. I offer my support to the incoming governor."
The Bangkok gubernatorial election is scheduled for June 28, 2026, with 14 candidates vying for the position. The election will utilize two ballots: one for the governor and another for members of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council.
