Nikorn Chamnong Registers as Bhumjaithai Party List MP Following Sabida’s Resignation

Bangkok: Nikorn Chamnong has officially reported to the parliament to register as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bhumjaithai Party, following the resignation of his predecessor, Sabida Thaiseth.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nikorn Chamnong, representing the Bhumjaithai Party through the list proportional representation system, fulfilled the procedural requirement by reporting to the Secretariat of the House of Representatives. This move comes after an official announcement by the House of Representatives, which mandates that the next individual on the party's list ascend to the role to fill any vacated position.

The transition follows the March 4, 2026, declaration by the Election Commission (EC), which confirmed Ms. Sabida Thaiseth's election as a Member of Parliament under the party-list system, where she was listed as the fifth candidate for the Bhumjaithai Party. However, her resignation, submitted on April 2, 2026, led to the cessation of her membership, as outlined by Section 101 (3) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2560.

In alignment with Section 105 (2) of the same constitution, it was announced that the next eligible candidate from the Bhumjaithai Party list would succeed her in the House of Representatives. This procedural change was met with a warm welcome from Ms. Sirithorn Limpapayom, the Deputy Secretary-General of the House of Representatives.
