Bangkok: The TGO launched 'Innovation for the Forestry Sector T-VER Project', announcing the success of the certification of the Remote Sensing Technology Platform with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the official assessment of carbon credits in the forestry sector for the first time in Thailand, raising standards to international standards, making them transparent, verifiable, and reducing operating costs.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nakorn Trankwirapat, Director of the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, emphasized that the use of Remote Sensing and AI in the T-VER project in the forestry sector is an important step in elevating Thailand's carbon credit assessment to meet international standards.
The launch of innovations for the T-VER forestry project is a collaborative effort between TGO and national technology agencies, namely the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Thaicom Public Company Limited, SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited, and Varuna (Thailand) Company Limited in the PTT Group. TGO has certified four platforms for this purpose: Carbon Atlas by GISTDA, CarbonWatch by Thaicom, CERT+ by SCGC, and Smart Forest by Varuna.
These innovations not only enhance accuracy and reduce costs but also instill confidence among project developers and carbon credit buyers both domestically and internationally. This initiative is a step forward in supporting Thailand's goal of achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
