Bangkok: The President of the National Assembly presided over the opening of the 27th King Prajadhipok's Institute Academic Conference titled "Democracy and Environmental Diplomacy: A Platform for Thailand in a Changing World," emphasizing the need to raise awareness about the impact on lives and livelihoods in a changing world.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly and President of the King Prajadhipok's Institute Council, led the opening ceremony of the 2025 conference. The event, "Environmental Democracy and Diplomacy: A Platform for Thailand in the Transformative World," was attended by ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from international organizations, members of parliament, independent organizations, experts, and executives from the King Prajadhipok's Institute.
Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha highlighted that the 27th NIDA Academic Conference has consistently advanced academic work on the development of democracy in various fields, achieving its goals and elevating discussions to a more international level. He pointed out that environmental issues are likely to worsen and complicate impacts beyond the borders of any single country, affecting neighboring countries and the entire world. Therefore, international collaboration is essential to address these issues through diplomacy, agreements, and cooperation. Democracy plays a critical role in tackling environmental challenges, impacting all sectors. Raising awareness about the effects on livelihoods in a changing world necessitates the promotion of people's rights to participate in environmental management at both local and international levels for timely responses and sustainable balance. He expressed hope that the conference would be an opportunity to develop policies that address the environmental crisis effectively an d sustainably for Thailand and other countries.
