Udon Thani: "Narumon" goes to Udon Thani to kick off the "Rubber Sales Delay Project" to create stability in rubber prices and increase financial liquidity for rubber farmers while waiting to sell their products, and to prepare for the World Horticultural Day to be effective. Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, presided over the opening of the Kick Off project to delay the sale of rubber for fiscal year 2025, with executives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mrs. Ranida Luengthitisakul, Acting Governor of Udon Thani Province, and provincial officials welcoming them at the Siam Grand Hotel, Udon Thani Province. The project aims to help control the amount of rubber entering the market to be appropriate for rubber usage and reduce price volatility, resulting in stable rubber prices. It also provides liquidity to rubber farmer institutions while waiting to sell their products at appropriate prices. According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture and Coo peratives, through the Rubber Authority of Thailand, has continuously driven the project to delay the sale of rubber and aims to expand it to cover all areas nationwide in order to promote and support rubber farmers to participate in managing rubber production, which will create sustainable price stability in the market system. It also encourages rubber farmers to operate rubber plantations in accordance with the law on products free from deforestation or EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) so that Thailand can expand its market and set the world rubber price. The Ministry of Agriculture also promotes rubber farmers to plant other crops alongside rubber plantations to promote sustainable agriculture. This initiative aims to help improve the income and quality of life for rubber farmers by ensuring strong agricultural institutions, in line with the Ministry's policy for high-value agricultural products and sustainable agricultural resources. Ms. Narumon and her team provided financial support from the Rubber D evelopment Fund, Section 49(3), to five groups of rubber farmer institutions and three farmers, as well as agricultural land title deeds to 30 farmer representatives. Ms. Narumon then traveled to the construction site of the pumping station in Tambon Mu Mon, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province. She followed up on the construction project of the Ban Mu Mon electric pumping station and its accompanying buildings, which are designed to deliver water to the irrigation area (partially) of 478 rai throughout the year. This station will also deliver water to the Nong Dae area to produce tap water for the village of Kut Sa Subdistrict, benefiting more than 1,500 households. Additionally, it will support the World Horticultural Expo by providing more than 2,160 cubic meters of water per day for trees and garden plants. Ms. Narumon also visited Nong Dae Public Park, Kut Sa Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province, to follow up on the progress of land adjustment and land filling for the World Horticultural E xposition, which is expected to be completed by the end of November 2024.
