Bangkok: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has taken decisive action to file a lawsuit with the Supreme Court against 44 former MPs of the Move Forward Party. This legal move comes as a result of their involvement in amending Article 112 of the Criminal Code, marking a significant step in addressing alleged ethical violations.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, Secretary-General of the NACC, disclosed the commission’s unanimous decision to proceed with the lawsuit. The charges against the former MPs center on serious ethical violations, which the NACC intends to present before the Supreme Court. Mr. Surapong detailed the administrative steps ahead, including the preparation of documents and a petition for submission to the court. This process involves coordinating with the court for the readiness and distribution of 56 sets of supporting documents to all relevant parties. Mr. Surapong assured that these procedures would be expedited.
Among the 44 former MPs, 10 individuals who are currently serving under the People’s Party may face suspension from their duties, depending on the court’s discretion. While the NACC cannot directly influence this aspect, it has already prepared a petition requesting their suspension. The outcome of this petition will be contingent on the court’s decision.
