Trang: A monk has taken on the role of a boat driver to aid in the transportation of relatives and friends in the wake of severe flooding. Wat Prasitchai, also known as Wat Tha Chin, faced floodwaters rising over a meter high, which hindered access for those bringing food offerings to the temple.
According to Thai News Agency, Luang Phi Boy, a novice monk at the temple, utilized a newly assembled boat, initially intended for a cremation ceremony, to help transport laypeople who had brought food offerings for the monks. The offerings included breakfast and lunch, and the monk's efforts ensured that these could still be delivered despite the challenging conditions. Luang Phi Boy expressed hopes that the water levels would recede within a few days if there is no further rainfall.
Meanwhile, at Wat Chaeng, monks and novices have taken on additional responsibilities by preparing meals for residents affected by the floods. They are cooking three meals a day for those who have sought refuge at the temple. The flooding in Trang Province has been extensive, impacting nine out of its ten districts, affecting over 100,000 residents, and resulting in two fatalities.
