Mae Sot: Finished the mission to send Chinese people, victims of the call center gang and scammers in Myawaddy, Myanmar, for a total of 3 days, 13 flights, sending back 621 Chinese people. The rest are waiting for negotiations between the 3 parties, Thailand, China and Myanmar, to determine the method of receiving them again.
According to Thai News Agency, today marked the last day of the operation to send Chinese victims of the call center gang who were captured by the BGF forces from a scam company in the Shwe Kokko Special Economic Zone, Myawaddy Township, Kayin State, Myanmar, across the Thai border and sent back to China. The last China Southern Airlines plane arrived at Mae Sot International Airport to pick up the last group of Chinese this afternoon.
Immediately after the plane landed, more than 20 police officers stood guard at the stairs leading to the plane before buses brought the Chinese people to the stairs leading to the plane. There were checks for weapons and metal by Chinese police officers who were traveling with the plane before they were allowed to board the plane one by one. Today, there were only 3 flights to pick up the Chinese people, totaling 121 people. All processes were carried out quickly. They are the last of this group of Chinese people.
After a 3-day operation to repatriate Chinese people from February 20-22, 2025, a total of 13 flights brought a total of 621 Chinese people home. Thai officials confirmed that all Chinese people sent across the 2nd Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge at Mae Sot border to the Thai side over the 3 days had to go through the Thai Immigration Bureau's biometric system to collect and record personal identities, fingerprints, and facial photographs in the blacklist before being taken to Mae Sot International Airport to board a flight back to China.
This batch of Chinese deportations from Myawaddy is the last batch. As for the deportation of victims of call center gangs and human trafficking in Myawaddy, both Chinese and foreigners of other nationalities who were rounded up and detained by the BGF and DKBA Karen forces, we must wait for another tripartite ministerial meeting of Thailand, China and Myanmar to jointly discuss the guidelines and procedures for the deportations, including solving transnational crimes in Myawaddy, Myanmar.
