Yasothon: The Ministry of Education has partnered with "Bovorn" institutions to advance religious and cultural development, aiming to build resilient communities through a collaborative initiative in Yasothon Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Religious Affairs, in conjunction with the "Bovorn" initiative-which encompasses Home, Temple, and School-has launched the activity "Visiting Temples for Religious Practice on Buddhist Holy Days: Families Bring Baskets for Merit and Community Support" in Yasothon Province. The event, held at Wat Buraparam in Maha Chana Chai District, was presided over by Phra Thep Wongsa Chan, Chief Monk of Yasothon Province, and attended by community leaders, government agencies, and the general public.
Mr. Chaiyaphon Suk-iam, Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs, emphasized that promoting religion is vital for strengthening societal morals. The initiative leverages the "Bovorn" model to foster cooperation among all sectors, aiming to preserve traditions and promote cultural values that benefit communities.
The event encouraged participants to engage in religious practices, support local products, and connect cultural and economic aspects to improve quality of life and promote self-reliance. Activities included chanting, meditation, and sermons, fostering mindfulness and inner peace among attendees.
In collaboration with Yasothon Province and various sectors, the Department provided essential goods to monks from temples affected by natural disasters, demonstrating the power of community support in times of need.
The Director-General also provided policy guidance on promoting virtuous communities through Buddhist-centered approaches and visited an exhibition of community products as part of the national morality promotion initiative.
Yasothon Province hosts 29 moral communities and 21 Sunday Buddhist Education Centers, promoting ethics and preserving local traditions. These efforts align with the Department of Religious Affairs' goal to strengthen communities and preserve religious and cultural values in Thai society.
