Min Buri:Flooding has persisted for more than two weeks in the Khum Klao area of Min Buri district, with water levels reaching knee-high in various spots. Residents are calling for additional water pumps and personnel to expedite drainage efforts.
According to Thai News Agency, standing water remains a problem along Khum Klao Road and in the surrounding villages and rice fields. A news team visiting the area spoke with village chairman Mr. Suthep Wattanasap and assistant village committee member Mr. Arun Kasong. They explained that their village, being in a low-lying area surrounded by rice fields, suffers from overflow when water levels rise. The nearby canal, already full, cannot handle the excess water, and continuous rain has exacerbated the situation.
Efforts to manage the flooding have been ongoing, with the village installing four water pumps since September 25th. These pumps have helped reduce the water level by about 15 centimeters, but more assistance is needed.
The village has seen limited oversight from agencies, possibly due to officials prioritizing other affected areas. However, they urge agencies to survey their area as other communities along the canal are also dealing with flooding.
The village requests additional 8-inch or 12-inch L-shaped water pumps and personnel to hasten the drainage process. With improved pumping efficiency, the residents believe the water could recede in 1-2 days, returning the area to normal conditions.
