Bangkok:Upper Thailand: Weather conditions in upper Thailand are predicted to be unstable from October 5-7, 2026, with heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds anticipated.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for these severe weather conditions, emphasizing the potential for flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas near slopes, waterways, and low-lying regions.
During October 5-6, heavy rainfall is expected to affect the northern and central regions, including Bangkok and its nearby areas, as well as the eastern and upper southern regions. Meanwhile, October 7 will see the western areas of the northern and central regions most impacted.
Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid open spaces, large trees, and unstable structures due to the risk of thunderstorms and strong winds. The late rainy season and a high-pressure system from China, coupled with the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, are contributing factors to these conditions.
Additionally, wave activity in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is expected to intensify, with waves potentially exceeding 2 meters during thunderstorms. Mariners are urged to navigate carefully and avoid areas with severe weather.
Looking ahead to October 9-13, heavy rainfall is predicted to increase in the eastern and central regions, including Bangkok, and the southern region. The public is advised to remain informed through weather updates during this period.
On October 5, the provinces of Kamphaeng Phet and Sukhothai are specifically noted to experience significant rainfall. Other regions across northern, northeastern, central, and southern Thailand are also forecasted to be affected, with varying degrees of severity throughout the week.
