Sanaa:MCOT MCOT Public Company Limited has launched the ‘TAKE CARE + YOUR HEALTH’ campaign to prioritize employee health, which includes an annual flu vaccination program for 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, the campaign is a collaborative initiative with the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, aiming to provide 600 influenza vaccinations to MCOT employees. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance immunity and reduce the risk of illness in the workplace.
The necessity of annual flu vaccinations stems from the constant evolution of the influenza virus. Each year, the virus mutates, requiring updates to the vaccine components to match circulating strains. The World Health Organization (WHO) plays a crucial role in updating these components annually.
Immunity levels from the flu vaccine rise post-vaccination but gradually decline over time. Therefore, booster shots every year are essential to maintain an effective immune response.
While the flu vaccine does not guarantee full immunity, it significantly reduces the severity of the illness if contracted. This reduction in symptom severity lowers the rate of complications, the likelihood of hospitalization, and the risk of death.
MCOT aims for this initiative not only to enhance the physical well-being of its employees but also to foster a safer and more hygienic working environment.
