Lt. Col. Thammanat Denies Rumors of Ministerial Comeback

Bangkok: Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao has firmly denied any intentions of returning to a ministerial position, following the Cabinet's recent inquiry to the Constitutional Court regarding the ethical framework surrounding minister qualifications. The speculation arose as some interpreted the move as a potential pathway for Thammanat's return to the government. However, he clarified that he was not involved with the Cabinet's actions and stressed the importance of adhering to the court's prior verdicts regarding his qualifications.

According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Col. Thammanat, who currently serves as an MP for Phayao and advisor to the Kla Tham Party, stated that discussions about a potential cabinet reshuffle are premature. He expressed satisfaction with the current performance of the ministers overseeing the Ministry of Agriculture, indicating no immediate need for changes. Thammanat also downplayed the prospect of an increased ministerial quota based on the number of MPs, noting that it was beyond his jurisdiction.

In response to inquiries about political discussions with government leaders or former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Thammanat emphasized that any political coordination must occur through the party's leadership. He reiterated the importance of consulting with Kla Tham Party leader Ms. Narumon Pinyosinwat and the party secretary for decisions and coordination efforts. Ms. Narumon confirmed that there has been no indication of an impending cabinet reshuffle.
