Kui Buri National Park helps injured gaur caught in animal trap

Kui Buri National Park officials went to help a wild bull that was injured after being caught in a trap. The operation to help a fully grown male wild gaur weighing several hundred kilograms by the chief of Kui Buri National Park after receiving a report from a good citizen that he saw this gaur with an injured leg. The point where it was found was in Ban Kratun, Village No. 5, Khao Chao Subdistrict, Pran Buri District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, 7 km from the Kui Buri National Park boundary. After learning about the incident, Mr. Atthapong Pao-on, Chief of Kui Buri National Park, along with veterinarians and wildlife conservation officers, Office of Natural Resources Conservation Area 3, Phetchaburi Branch, livestock officers and animal health officers, mobilized to search and brought medical supplies for treatment. In the initial search, a drone was used to enter the area to search for the gaur, but it was not found. At noon, the plan was changed to walk on foot to track down the injured gaur for assis tance. Until 14.00 hrs., the bull was found, but due to the condition of the area not being suitable for rescue because it was a dense forest which might not be safe, so they lured it out until around 17.00 hrs., the officers shot it with a tranquilizer and went to help. They found that the right front leg was wrapped in a wire rope until it was a deep wound. There was a wire rope stuck in the wound. The officers had to use steel cutters to cut the wire and clean the wound. They used gauze to scrub off damaged or dead flesh, pus, and dirt. Then they applied disinfectant gel and maggot killing powder before treating the wound. They also gave it saline intravenously in the ear area. They also injected antibiotics and tonics because its body was weak (this step was done while the bull was still under the effects of the anesthesia).
