Bangkok: His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen graciously welcomed a distinguished group of individuals at Ampornsathan Throne Hall, Dusit Palace. The royal audience took place today at 5:03 p.m., marking a significant occasion attended by both international and local dignitaries. According to Thai News Agency, the first to be received were Mr. Lawrence Wong, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, accompanied by his wife Ms. Tze Lui Loo. Their visit was part of an official state visit to Thailand, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. Thailand and Singapore, which established diplomatic relations in 1965, are set to commemorate their 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025. During this visit, discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperative efforts in various sectors such as security, economic partnerships, and strategic collaborations. Emphasis will also be placed on emerging areas like cyber security, digital economy, and green economy initiati ves, with an aim to benefit both nations' citizens. As a gesture of goodwill, the Prime Minister presented His Majesty with an oil painting titled 'Old Parliament House' and gifted earrings to Her Majesty the Queen, along with health care products for both royals. In another significant meeting, Mr. Surawong Thienthong, Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, introduced Mr. Eliud Kipchoge, the renowned Kenyan long-distance runner, to the King. Kipchoge, who is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Goodwill Ambassador for Ethics and Values in Sport, is visiting Thailand to participate in and promote the 'Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2024'. The marathon aims to boost Thailand's tourism and sporting profile. Kipchoge is celebrated for his record-breaking sub-2-hour marathon and his gold medal victories at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. During the audience, he presented a special edition 'Eliud Kipchoge' jacket to His Majesty.
