Bangkok: Jaturon Chaisang has announced his resignation as the chairman of the Pheu Thai Party's strategic committee, citing the sudden dissolution of parliament as a key factor in his decision. He compared the situation to "changing horses mid-race," suggesting that the abrupt change in political dynamics made it difficult to redefine or modify the party's strategy in a short timeframe.
According to Thai News Agency, Chaisang shared a picture and message on social media to communicate his decision, referring to the Pheu Thai Party's Order No. 0008/2568 dated November 14, 2025. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as chairman and work with party members. However, he noted that the party's core leaders had already made significant progress in developing strategies, making his position potentially inconsistent with the party's pre-determined plans.
Chaisang emphasized the importance of having the party's core leaders, who have been involved in defining the party's strategy over the past two to three years, take the helm of the strategic committee. He mentioned that these leaders are well-positioned to drive the upcoming election strategy.
Another factor influencing his resignation is the upcoming joint parliamentary session on December 11, 2025, where the assembly agreed to request the Cabinet to hold a referendum on a new draft constitution. Chaisang highlighted the significance of this referendum, which is expected to coincide with the general election. He underscored his commitment to campaigning for constitutional amendments and participating in efforts to gain voter approval for the referendum.
Chaisang concluded that his involvement in the referendum campaign would limit his capacity to contribute to the party during the election period, leading to his decision to step down from his role as chairperson of the Pheu Thai Party's strategic committee.
