Iran, U.S. Set for High-Stakes Talks in Islamabad

Islamabad: Iran and the United States are set to hold talks today in Islamabad, Pakistan, in an effort to negotiate an end to the ongoing conflict involving Israel.

According to Thai News Agency, Iranian state media reported that a delegation from Iran arrived in Islamabad yesterday. The group is led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibhaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The delegation also includes high-ranking officials such as the Secretary of the National Defence Council, the Governor of the Central Bank, and several members of parliament.

The U.S. delegation is headed by Vice President J.D. Vance, with Steve Whitkoff, President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy, and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, also on their way to the meeting.

Pakistan, which is hosting the talks, stated its commitment to facilitating constructive negotiations. The nation expressed hope for a lasting and permanent agreement that would resolve the conflict. The meeting follows President Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire, declared just hours before his deadline to destroy Iranian civilization if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened.
