Intoxicated Man Arrested for Firing Gun in Charoen Krung Area


Bangkok: Police arrested a man who was intoxicated and fired a gun into the air in the Charoen Krung area. Patrol officers from Wat Phraya Krai, along with MPB SWAT teams, apprehended Mr. Wisal Maseng, aged 42, in the parking lot of Wat Lat Buakhao, Soi Charoen Krung 80, Intersection 2, Bang Kho Laem Subdistrict, Bang Kho Laem District.



According to Thai News Agency, the arrest was conducted under the supervision of Pol. Maj. Gen. Witawat Chinkham, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, and involved several high-ranking officers, including Pol. Col. Watit Rojanapaitoon, Superintendent of Wat Phraya Krai Police Station. The officers seized a homemade revolver with a 2.5-centimeter barrel, four rounds of .38 Special ammunition, and four spent .38 Special casings from the suspect.



The incident was reported to Wat Phraya Krai Police Station’s crime prevention and suppression unit via radio, prompting police officers to respond swiftly to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers heard three gunshots and sought additional support from investigative and traffic units. They informed the community about the suspect’s description and movements, who was riding a blue Honda PCX 150i motorcycle towards the police station.



The arresting officers identified themselves and apprehended Mr. Wisal to prevent any potential threat. During a search of his person and motorcycle, they discovered the firearm on the dashboard. Upon questioning, Mr. Wisal admitted to owning the firearm and purchasing it online for 3,000 baht. He confessed to firing the gun while intoxicated.



Consequently, the officers charged him with several offenses, including illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a weapon without a permit, and firing a firearm in a public area without justification. Mr. Wisal was taken to Wat Phraya Krai Police Station for further legal proceedings.
