Interior Minister Confirms Comprehensive Disaster Response Plans in Place.

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has confirmed that provincial governors and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation have established comprehensive disaster response plans to address the impact of the impending Manyi storm, particularly in Thailand's southern region. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin emphasized the preparedness for handling cyclical disasters across the northern, central, and southern regions of Thailand. He assured that all provincial governors are equipped with disaster response plans, including measures to provide assistance during emergencies. When questioned about specific preparations for vulnerable hillside areas, Mr. Anutin highlighted the importance of setting up checkpoints to warn travelers and deploying personnel to ensure safety. He also mentioned that equipment and machinery are ready to address potential landslides, flooding, and road damages, with provincial governors having prepared for these scenarios during th e rainy season. Mr. Anutin also discussed the ongoing rehabilitation efforts in the Mae Sai area following recent floods. He mentioned that the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning is actively proposing solutions to the flooding issues. This includes addressing illegal encroachments on villagers' land, which have disrupted proper water drainage. Plans are underway to reclaim the land and construct a permanent dam or weir, with specific focus on the Sai Lom Joy Market area, which has been significantly affected by encroachment.
