Bangkok: The House Secretary has disclosed that the determination of a voting date for the new Prime Minister is contingent upon the decision of the whips from both political parties.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant Colonel Aphat Sukhanan, who serves as the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, communicated via telephone regarding the ongoing process for selecting a new prime minister. This follows the recent Constitutional Court ruling that led to the dismissal of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra from the prime ministerial position. He noted that the date for the election of a new prime minister remains undecided, pending discussions between the government and opposition whips.
The Secretary-General emphasized that it is essential for the whips to decide on a suitable date and subsequently inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Wan Nor. He further elaborated that there is currently no specified timeframe for the selection of a new prime minister, highlighting the need for coordination between the involved parties to move forward with the election process.
