Bangkok: The "Half-Price Plus" spending scheme, a significant economic initiative, concluded at the end of 2025, marking a circulation of 84 billion baht and projecting a modest economic growth boost of 0.2 percent for the year.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pongnakorn Pochakorn, Director of the Public Financial System Development Policy Division at the Fiscal Policy Office and assistant spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, disclosed preliminary figures from the "Half-Price Plus" project. The scheme, which officially ended on December 31, 2025, at 11:00 PM, saw the participation of 19.76 million individuals and amassed total spending of 84,185.73 million baht. This spending is categorized into public contributions of 42,810.64 million baht, with 41,251.73 million baht spent at general stores.
The payment infrastructure of the scheme was split between 1,558.91 million baht through food delivery platforms and 41,375.09 million baht via government co-payments. Of the government co-payment, 39,899.53 million baht was directed toward general stores, whereas 1,475.56 million baht was processed through food delivery services. By the scheme's conclusion, 999,350 verified stores were part of the project, including 89,799 restaurants and beverage establishments that accepted payments via food delivery platforms.
The assistant spokesperson emphasized the collaboration between the public and businesses in fostering consumption nationwide. The project infused approximately 84,185.73 million baht into the economy, promoting economic growth by around 0.2 percent for 2025, in comparison to a scenario without the project. The increase in consumer purchasing power, heightened income for small enterprises, and subsequent impacts on production, trade, employment, and transportation have all contributed to sustained economic growth extending into early 2026.
