Chonburi: Gunmen stormed the shrine of Ajarn Keng, reportedly due to a 3,000 baht loan dispute. A group of armed men stormed the shrine of “Ajarn Keng” and fired shots over a 3,000 baht loan that was not repaid. Fortunately, the gun jammed, and he narrowly escaped death. Ajarn Keng believes he was protected by the divine blessings.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred in front of the Maha Thep shrine of Ajarn Keng, after a group of five men verbally abused and physically assaulted him. One man appeared to be armed with a gun, which he pointed at Ajarn Keng at one point but unfortunately jammed. Following this, objects were thrown, and Ajarn Keng’s older brother, Mr. Wanu, 48, was severely injured during the assault.
Reporters later visited the residence of Ajarn Keng, located in Soi Mabtato, Soi 8, Moo 13, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The building is a single-story structure consisting of two adjoining rooms, with numerous statues of deities arranged in front. Several items of property and belongings inside the house were found to be damaged.
A reporter spoke with Mr. Keng, or Paripat, 43, who revealed that he had indeed borrowed 3,000 baht from “Aunt Su.” He stated that Aunt Su had previously called to threaten him, saying that if he came, he wouldn’t come alone. Following the incident, one of the men said, “You owe Aunt Su money, so hurry up and pay her back,” leading him to believe the perpetrators were Aunt Su’s associates from whom he borrowed the money.
Following the incident, both Mr. Keng and his brother went to the Nong Prue Police Station to file a report and record the event as evidence, so that the authorities can proceed with legal action against the perpetrators.
